Maybe… Local governments retain authority to regulate STRs (rentals under 30 days), including definitions and owner-occupancy requirements for ADUs.

No restrictive architectural, material, landscaping, or dimension standards beyond those for primary dwellings. ADUs can be prohibited if under 500 sq ft or over 800 sq ft, or if larger than the primary dwelling.

No requirement for owner occupancy of the ADU or primary dwelling, except when applying for construction (owner must reside on the parcel if the ADU is built after the primary unit) or for short-term rental permits under local rules.
